| HISTORY
The Regents Park Sexual
Health Clinic was created in 1985 as the first private alternative
to the STD clinics of the NHS.
It was opened with these main
aims:
- To provide a service which would be discrete,
efficient, sympathetic and non-judgemental.
- To provide prompt
appointments without the long waits typical of existing clinics.
- To provide a service which delivered test results
much more quickly than traditional clinics for people who were
naturally anxious to know whether they had been infected or not.
- To provide
counselling
and high quality treatment
whenever necessary.
These remain the aims today. Amazingly, we
still provide appointments far sooner than NHS clinics and
much quicker results.
From the beginning we were used by performers
in the adult entertainment industry who needed frequent tests
and found it a far more pleasant environment than elsewhere with
a better understanding of their needs. This was the foundation
of the expertise we have today.
| In 2005 the Clinic was taken over by Doctorcall, the medical
services group, and re-located to 121 Harley Street. Here the
Clinic has the advantage of on-site laboratory and testing
facilities which keeps the time between test and result to
a minimum. |
 |
After operating the Clinic for a
period, we have now created a new specialised testing programme
for performers in the adult entertainment industry which is simpler,
more convenient and more cost-effective than other regimes.
ABOUT DOCTORCALL
Doctorcall was founded in 1989
to provide prompt medical treatment for people in their home,
workplace or hotel, normally within one hour of a call. We subsequently
added private GP Clinics offering short-notice appointments (similar
to a walk-in clinic), occupational health services for companies,
cosmetic clinics and the country’s
largest mobile flu vaccination service. For more information
see www.doctorcall.co.uk.
| Doctorcall is fully approved by the British
government’s health regulator, the Healthcare Commission,
which is responsible for regulating the quality and value of
medical treatment in the UK. |
